KADIKÖY ARCHEOLOGY MUSEUM

The circulation is conceived as a temporal journey, guiding visitors back through history by means of an experiential route. The museum’s path begins in the present and gradually descends into the soil, revealing layers of heritage. Along this descent, exhibitions unfold chronologically—Byzantine, Roman, Classical, and Ottoman artifacts—many of which originate from surrounding excavation sites.

The architectural composition is defined by two distinct volumes, each responding to the terrain’s stability and programmatic needs. Heavier functions, such as the seminar hall, are housed within a crystalline mass, while other functions are distributed in lighter counterparts.

Throughout the circulation, visitors are invited to engage directly with the excavation areas, transforming the route into both an educational and sensory experience. The sequence concludes in the library, a contemplative space that opens toward panoramic views of both HaydarpaÅŸa and the sea.
